  • Organists' Workshop

    Players – £5, Observers – free Directed by Roger Carter, Acting Area Chairman Keen to improve some aspect of your organ playing? Already enjoyed elsewhere, here is an informal opportunity to receive advice from Roger on any aspect of service playing. The afternoon will be tailored to the needs of the participants and individual advice will be given whilst playing this lovely organ. Roger Carter studied the organ initially with Christopher Scarf and Richard Popplewell, gaining Fellowships from the Royal College of Organists and Trinity College of Music. He also participated in courses in France, Germany, Italy and the Netherlands to gain specialist knowledge of various sections of the organ repertoire. Performing widely as a soloist and accompanist in this country and abroad has offered him the experience of playing many different types of organs. He has been Director of Music at St John’s Church, Harpenden for many years and teaches for the Royal College of Organists, and Queenswood and The Haberdashers’ Aske’s Boys’ Schools.   • Celebration Day at Canterbury Cathedral

    Celebration Day at Canterbury Cathedral on 14th October, led by Adrian Lucas in conjunction with the Canterbury Area Festival. Singers from all RSCM areas are warmly invited to take part. Canterbury Area Festival combined with RSCM Celebration Day Reform and Renewal directed by Adrian Lucas, to be sung in the beautiful setting of Canterbury Cathedral. We are privileged to be able to sing in such an enchanting location, and if you haven’t been before – come and join us! Music is now available. Seating at 13:30; rehearsal 14:00 to 16:15; service 17:30 to 19:00.   • Come and Sing Faure Requiem for Remembrance

    Come & Sing: Fauré's Requiem for Remembrance Another opportunity to learn Fauré’s Requiem in an afternoon, with the Master of the Music at St Albans Cathedral, Andrew Lucas, for a performance at the Cathedral in the evening.  Not only is this an opportunity to sing in a wonderful space with a renowned conductor, but it is also a chance to join in a community act of remembrance by singing this famous Requiem Mass setting just a few days after the Feast of All Souls, and in anticipation of Remembrance Sunday.  Scores and cold refreshments will be provided.  Please dress smartly. An ability to read music is helpful.
